Cute & Modest School Fashions! :)

Hi everyone! Wow, I realize it's been a year--or maybe a bit more--since I posted! Sorry! This past school year was really busy, and it's hard to believe that the summer's already almost 1/2way over...I've already started some back to school shopping, and I thought I'd share some modest and cute ideas I've seen kickin' around, so that you can maybe get some cute ideas to restock your closets for the upcoming school year!

Not sure if colored jeans are still "in", but I still like them, and this navy and coral combo never goes awry!

I've had a thing for lacey cream/white tops lately...and again, colored jeans. Cute!

This is a super classy look I love.  I consider a jean collared shirt a wardrobe essential. Putting a sweater or a cardigan over it looks very classy and very scholastic.

I'm actually a big fan of blazers lately, especially colored ones! How cute is this? You can turn that cute ruffly tank, that would be immodest on its own into something adorable!

The ruffly white tank. Another essential. Very cute. You can wear it with a brightly colored cardigan, like is done here, or you can put it over a solid colored tee. Possibilities..

Love shirts that are that style, and that blue and yellow combo is great!

Again with the cream/white tops. Very cute.

Very cute and classy way to wear leopard/animal print! Bright cardigans work wonders!

Another cute way to wear a jean shirt. Love the white pants. I need to get some myself. And that yellow cardigan...pretty fabulous!

The red jeans. I think these are also pretty essential. Red looks GREAT with animal print, as you can see with the scarf there. Jean jacket? Never a bad idea...

Now I'm lovin this top. Preppy sophistication. Love the preppy look. The top is  kinda sheer, so you'd need something under it, but it's cute!

This is a very cute outfit. CUFFED JEANS. Need I say more? Haha, it's very cute! Stripes are always a great nuetral

Tan flats. Very cute and practical.

Polka dot shirt. Many possibilities. You can wear it plain with jeans-or colored jeans! Imagine it with some yellow, pink, or red jeans! Or you can wear it with white jeans-or white jeans and a colored cardigan! Getting some basic neutral prints like this is always smart!

Another very classy way to wear animal print! Love those jeans!

Once again, cuffing the jeans. Turquoise and coral are usually a hit. & I love those leopard shoes!

I have seen necklaces like this big bubbly one floating around in bright, cute colors. Maybe try one for the new school year?

These shoes might appear plain, but grey shoes that are so versatile like these Toms are a lifesaver! Cute!

Getting some other grey flats is always a cute idea as well... :)

Stock. Up. On. Cardigans. (if you like them), they're so versatile, and add spice to outfits.

Getting a pair of really vibrant flats like these can spice up tans/grays/whites/blacks/neutrals.

Love the navy. Love the stripes. Love the cuffed pants. Love the belt. Very scholastic.

PEACOATS! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them! They're so cute, and very warm for those fall and winter months! You can get one in pratically any color, white, red, yellow, pink, etc. I just happen to love the grey ones.

Red flats. Always good to have.

Modest shorts! And they're red!

Getting a couple of scarves is always good. How cute is this?

Speaking of scarves, here are 15 different ways to tie them! Good luck, I can never seem to figure it out... :)

Love the light brown sweater, scarf, and pointed flats!

Cute turquoise ruffled button-up. And those flats! Sparkly flats are also a staple item!

For the lazy days...I just love shirts with sleeves like those!

Very cute! Navy polka dots and red..what did I tell ya? Cute!

Business look for presentations/debates? I definitely suggest getting a white collared shirt.

Great fall look, I love that shirt.

Another great fall look! Adorable!

Different ways to wear a jean shirt. Excuse the couple that have shorter-shorts. :( But good ideas!

Wearing a dress to school occasionally can be fun. Navy and mustard go well together! Nice!

Pastel pants stock up.

Again with the neutral prints and cardigans. Love it! And that bun is very cute and preppy!

WELL, THAT'S ABOUT ALL FOR ME., I HOPE THIS HAS PROVIDED SOME CUTE, MODEST IDEAS

TO FINISH OFF...

The Church: The Ultimate Trail Mix

I've had the opportunity over the last few weeks to talk with a sweet friend. This friend is struggling to rise to full activity in the Church. They felt a bit like an outcast and a reject - they are so different from all the other members. How could they ever fit in?

I gave my friend this analogy. They laughed their head off, but really it is so true.
Photo found at http://grapplergourmet.com/diy-trail-mix/

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is like a bag of trail mix. Now, this analogy may sound strange at first, as it did to my friend, but just hear me out.

The Church is like a bag of trail mix. In a trail mix, there is a MIXTURE of different types of food items. There are the peanuts and the almonds, the raisins and the dried cranberries, the sunflower seeds and the M&M's.

Now, if we were to just have a bag of raisins to take on our hike, would it be as delicious as a bag of trail mix? If the trail mix were nothing more than a bunch of raisins, it really wouldn't be a mix at all.

The foods in a trail mix come from many different trails of lives. There are raisins that have been dried and aged with experience. There are the nuts that bring crunch to the mix, the dried cranberries that make it tart, and the M&Ms that make it sweet (and quite frankly, all worth it).

The church is exactly like a trail mix. There are people from all different walks of lives.
There are people (like the raisins) who have grown up in the church and are dried, aged, and tested in the gospel.
There are people who are young in the gospel, like the sunflower seeds, who have not reached the fullness of their gospel maturity but are striving hard to do so.
And there are M&Ms, who bring sweetness and spunk to our gospel trail mix, having taken the path of transformation in their life.

You cannot say one does not belong in the trail mix of the Church. It is a trail MIX for Pete's sake! You can throw many different things in a trail mix. There is no dried fruit or type of nut or chocolate that does not belong.

You may be a nut. You may be a seed. You may be a M&M. But regardless of who you are and what trail you traveled to get to where you are today, you are still important in His church. You still are valuable. If you aren't as progressed in the gospel as some, that doesn't mean you aren't still valuable. It just means you have a direction to follow, a path to trod, and a legacy to leave.

Don't give up. Whether you were born in the gospel, inactive in your childhood, or rebellious in your teens, YOU STILL BELONG IN HIS FOLD.  His arms are stretched out and He will come to your rescue, no matter how far you may be. (See Luke 15: 6). He rejoices in any and all who are willing to come unto Him and take His name and join His trail mix.

Welcome to the trail mix of happiness.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

2014 Girls' Camp Ideas! :D

GIRLS' CAMP!
I just got called as YCL and I am pumped and humbled all at once! Here are some cute camp ideas I found online; some of them are general and some of them are geared to my stake's theme of "Come Unto Christ".
Watch the 15-in-5 video for ideas. This is a 5 minute video with 15 ideas for girls' camp. (I made it myself. hehe :D)
http://screencast.com/t/FE4NFV7ut

Here are the resources I promised in the video:

  • CANDY BAR MEN ACTIVITY LINK
  • SCRIPTURE CARD EXAMPLES BELOW
  •  LOST & FOUND BUCKET LABEL

  • GRATITUDE POSTER LABEL
Scripture Cards (or PJS Patterns) EXAMPLES
**Scripture cards are a way to do PJS. You hand out a card like this every day for PJS as an option for the Young Women to study during PJS time. One way to do scripture cards is to base them off of the girls’ camp theme. Here are a few examples you can feel free to use. **
Day One PJS: Virtue
“Sometimes as we walk life’s paths, we want to loiter in dangerous places, thinking that it is fun and thrilling and that we are in control. Sometimes we think we can live on the edge and still maintain our virtue. But that is a risky place to be. As the Prophet Joseph Smith told us, “Happiness is the object and design of our existence; and will be the end thereof, if we pursue the path that leads to it; and this path is virtue” (History of the Church, 5:134–35).” – Sister Elaine S. Dalton, Cherish Virtue, March 2009 New Era.
Read and ponder the following scriptures. Take notes in your journal or in the margin. Jot down some commitments you will make in order to stay virtuous. Ask yourself why virtue is so important and write your response as well.
*      Doctrine & Covenants 25: 2 & 13
*      Doctrine & Covenants 121: 45-46
*      Article of Faith 13
*      Proverbs 3:15
*      Moroni 9:9
*      Revelation 3:4

Day Two PJS: Come Unto Christ
“The words ‘come unto Christ’ are an invitation. It is the most important invitation you could ever offer to another person. It is the most important invitation anyone could accept.” —President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in the First Presidency
As you ponder the quote above and the scriptures listed below, take time to write a few goals you have to become more Christlike and to “come unto Christ”. Why is it so important to come unto Christ? What are ways you can come unto Christ? What are some sins that keep you from coming to Christ? What do you have to sacrifice when you come to Christ, and what do you gain from doing so?
