Like I Promised - More Summer Ideas!

Hi Girls!
I promised more summer ideas and here they are! Nine more to add onto your list!

1. Rubber Band Memory Board: This is way adorable.  I love sticking notes I get from girls' camp on my memory boards!  This is how Martha Stewart says to make it: Kids can make a bulletin board that won't damage favorite pictures since it doesn't require thumbtacks. Stretch extra-large colored rubber bands lengthwise and widthwise over a 1-foot-square piece of corkboard painted with acrylic paint, making sure the rubber bands go over and under one another at intervals.

2. Ice Pops:  I don't know about where you guys live, but where I live it can get WAY hot.  So, ice pops are a must.

Here's one recipe from TLC.
  • 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup sugar (or other natural sweetner)
  • Three cups of fruit

  • Heat water, gelatin and sugar in saucepan over low heat until gelatin dissolves, for about 5 minutes. Then toss gelatin mixture in the blender with fruit and puree. Pour the mixture into cups and wait until frozen. Enjoy!

    4. Fish Bowl Gelatin: I just about died when I saw this!  This is so cute for a party or just as a decoration/snack at home.  http://www.marthastewart.com/314623/fish-bowl-gelatin?center=276964&gallery=274922&slide=262265

    5. Make Tags:  Make luggage tags to tie onto your duffles and bags for girls' camp, EFY, youth conference, or any summer trip!  You can use stickers, markers, fabric, lamenation, pretty much whatever!  Here are a few examples I found online:

    6. Make Shark/Beach Cupcakes: I found this recipe on Martha Stewart's website: http://www.marthastewart.com/269032/shark-and-beach-cupcakes?center=276964&gallery=274922&slide=269032
They are way super cute!  I hope you have fun making them!

    7. Flip-Flop Makeovers: Had to have something about shoes in this post!  You can tie strips of colorful fabric to your flip flops, glue on buttons or flowers, or do just about anything with flip flops to make them fun!

    8. Clay Jewelry: It's always fun to make homemade jewelry.  Click the website link below to see another cute idea of how to make fun summer jewelry:

    9. Tie Dye: Have some fun with tie-dye. It can be so much fun!  Make some cute summer patterns.

    Ah...Summmer.

    Hello!
I know we've all been waiting for it.  I know we've all been craving it.
    And now it is here!
    SUMMER!
    ...
    ...
    ...
But now I'm starting to wonder, why was I craving summer so much?  I'm SO bored!

Well, here are ten things to do to snazz up your summer!

1-Make Playdough: Okay, I know that sounds childish...but it can be way fun!  And it is great for babysitting.  Just make something out of playdough, get your fingers all salty.  And click here for a recipe.  Enjoy being a child again!

2-Make Homemade Ice Cream: I love ice cream.  I hope you do too.  But this could be way fun.  I found this recipe called ice cream in a bag.  Haven't tried it yet, but I hope it works! Click right here  to access the recipe.  Good luck!

3-Finger Painting: I know, it feels like I'm talking to a whole bunch of preschoolers.  But paiting is fun!  One website I found suggested painting what summer means to you!

4-Make Chocolate-Ginger Bathing Beauties: I know...sounds weird right?!  But they look super cute.  Gotta love Martha Stewart.  Click here to get the recipe.  And of course, make 'em modest!

5-Water Fight: Get some water balloons, toss in a few water squirters, and model that gorgeous, modest summer swimsuit of yours!  But don't forget the sunscreen!

6-Index: Indexing can actually be really fun and easy!  I am a family history specialist in my ward, and I'm trying to do about 4 batches a week - that's 160 or so names!  Hopefully I'll have 1,000 done by the end of the summer.  Try it.  It's a great service and time filler!  (Start out on level ones first though, okay.)

7-Obstacle Course Party: You could do this as a young women's group, a family for FHE, or even with your friends. You could try a rope swing, crab walk, or balance beam.  For more ideas, click here.

8- Make Homemade Strawberry Limeade:  I've tried this one and it is SO good!  It is quick, refreshing, and perfect for the summer!  Click right about here for the recipe.  Even better, it is Colombian...so get your inner latina going!

9- Pet Rock:  How many times have we asked for a pet and our parents have said no?  Well, they probably won't say no to a pet rock.  Don't just get a rock though...snazz it up!

10 - And finally ten: Painted Sneakers: Make sure you get your parent's permission first.  But these are adorable and personalized!  Click on this link to learn how.
