Prom...Prom...Is it possible to be modest??

If you are struggling to find a modest prom dress, I promise you IT IS POSSIBLE!  Being modest during this special event will show your date that you aren't willing to sacrifice your standards for a dance and that you respect yourself...and him!
This is a cute article I found on lds.org about modesty.
And this is a great website to find cute prom dresses!
Here are a few samples of dresses from Latter Day Prom...you can see more by clicking the above link.  They have adorable dresses!

Another great place to go is: http://www.twirlprom.com/prom.htm
They also have way great dresses!

Girls, you can be modest and stylish at the same time!  When you let your light shine to the world, others can be touched.  Don't be afraid to look for modest dresses or be the only one in your group who is modest!  You can do it!

Dare to Stand

I love Hilary Week's song "I Will."  You can listen to it by clicking here.  This song inspired me to create this blog, to share my talents, and do many other things.  It is my Girls' Camp Theme Song this year. I love it.  Lyrics are below.
I think this goes perfectly with the talk "Dare to Stand Alone" by President Monson.  There is a quick MormonMessage you can watch by clicking here.
I hope all of us will have the courage to stand when this world won't.  I promise you that, if you do, you will never be alone.  You will be immensely blessed for following His words and standing up for righteousness.

I made my choice
You can mark this day
The day I pledge
To take His name

I will be strong
I will be brave
Standing for Him
As I take my place

I have felt the spirit burn truth in my heart
It's in my heart
I will stand
I will not fall
In a world that's weak
I will be strong

I'll be true
I will choose His way
Yeah, I know what's right
And I will not change
In a world where so many will not
I will
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsty.com/hilary-weeks-i-will-lyrics.html ]
I may be one
But one becomes two
When you stand with me
And I stand with you
As we unite
Our cause is great
We're not just the candle
We are the flame

I will take the light He gives me
And I'll hold it up high
I'll hold it up high

And I will stand
I will not fall
In a world that's weak
I will be strong

I'll be true
I will choose his way
Yeah, I know what's right
And I will not change

In a world where so many will not
I will

[Short Interlude]

I will stand
I will not fall
In a world that's weak
I will be strong
I'll be true
I will choose His way
Yeah, I know what's right
And I will not change

In a world where so many will not...
I will
Oooohh
I will

Personal Progress Project Ideas...?

We've all been there.  It seems the easy part of Personal Progress is doing the experiences.  Choosing the project you will do for each value can be a hard but very rewarding process.  If you follow the Holy Ghost's guidance, you will be able to successfully find a project that will leave a wonderful influence on your life and help others in the process.

Need some ideas?...Here are some things I have done for my Personal Progress.

-Family Search: I know this one is fairly common, but it is one of the most rewarding projects I've ever done.  1. Go onto Family Search.  2. Put in as many family names as possible, go to the Family History Centers, etc.  3.  Take the names to the temple.  This project is hard.  It truly is.  It takes a lot of patience.  But there is nothing in this world like the feeling you get from "getting to know" your ancestors.  I know personally it has changed my life.  I promise you that all the hard work is worth it for this project!  (Contact a Geneology Specialist in your ward for assistance, if needed.)

-Fashion Show:  I did this project for my Choice & Accountability Project.  I absolutely loved it!  The Spirit was strong, the girls were touched, and now it is going to become a ward tradition!  1. Double check with your Young Women's President about this.  Try to reserve the gym in a stake center/church building if possible.  2.  Organize a committee.  Treat this like a presidency.  Pray for guidance about who to ask to join.  Ask for volunteers as well.  3. It will take a lot of preparation.  Hold meetings, listen to the Spirit, and pray for guidance on how to best help your girls.  4.  Put it on!  We had several different categories in our ward, with several "Young Women" models per category.  For example: Church, Prom, School, we even did Pajamas!  Show slideshows, give little talks, play church music/Christian contemporary.  This has been one of the most influential and positive Mutual activities we've had!

-Future Career...Future Career...Future: I want to be a teacher, so for my Knowledge project, I teacher-assisted at an elementary school.  Try to do something that you are interested in.  Volunteer.  Work.  Contribute.  This can be really fun, and it helps you prep for your future career.

-Did I hear you say fundraiser?: No, I don't mean raise funds for that beautiful red Farrari you're dying for!  I am currently working on raising money for Primary Children's Hospital.  How?  I am organizing a "Girls' Fest," at which homemade contributed items will be sold.  Proceeds will go to the hospital!

Have any ideas you'd like to share?  Well, SHARE THEM PLEASE!  Leave a comment.

Welcome to The Flame

Hello Dear Friends & Sisters!
We welcome you to the Flame.  The Flame is a relatively new blog designed by young women for young women.  It contains Personal Progress helps, gospel encouragement, and funny posts!  We hope you all enjoy.  If you would like to become part of the Flame team, please contact one of the contributors.
We hope this helps you as you strive to develop your inner flame in a world where it is discouraged.  The name "The Flame" was inspired by the song "I Will" by Hilary Weeks.  In her song, it says, "We're not just the candle, we are the flame."  Truly, sisters, as we develop our potential and strive to live worthily, our flame shows and our devotion and love to God and His work grows.
God bless you all, with love:
     The Flame Team
