Girls' Camp Ideas & Menus

So, it is summer time! And girls' camp time!!!!  Here are some ideas you could do during girls camp, or even before or after.
And here are some food ideas as well!
Got ideas? Share them in a comment!

  1. FLOUR DODGEBALL: This is a fun (and messy) game. Load nylon-material bags with flour (powder flour...not flowers) and THROW! In the end, you will be covered with flour, so this is a good game for outdoors. A ton of fun!
  2. DANG DIRTY KICKBALL: If you do this on the same day as flour dodgeball, you will be a beautiful mess. DO IT! Start off by pairing people together and tying them together by the legs.  1st base: A baby swimming pool filled with shaving cream. 2nd base: A baby swimming pool filled with mud. :)  3rd base: A water pool. Have the third baseman cover the runners in dish soap and then.... The area between 3rd base and Home: A slip-n-slide.  SO DIRTY! I would recommend goggles...just in case. :)
  3. MINUTE TO WIN IT GAMES: So much fun! Here are some ideas: http://happyhomefairy.com/2011/06/06/minute-to-win-it-games-for-summer-fun/
  4. CRAFTS: Crafts are always good...BUT don't overdo them. Don't want to have to carry too many home! http://honeyimholmes.blogspot.com/2012/04/round-up-girls-camp-crafts.html

Now...food. Food is SO VITAL on girls' camp. A meal can make the world go 'round. Here are some ideas for camp meals.

Scones: Scones are delicious and easy. Just get some dough - even premade, like Rhode's - and fry it up in a big pan on a camp stove. My leaders usually serve the scones with jam, honey-butter, etc. You could even serve them for lunch with beans or butter. If you want to be all fancy and homemade, here is a recipe: http://www.food.com/recipe/german-scones-deep-fried-12627

Hobo Dinners (Camp Keisel Specials): These are DELISH. You can honestly throw just about anything into a Hobo Dinner, and they are super easy! And the girls can make their own! http://www.dltk-kids.com/recipesdb/view.asp?rid=222

Café Rio-Style Sweet Pork Salad: My ward does Café Rio Sweet Pork Salads every year, which are delicious! But you can do basically anything involving pork, beef, tortillas, salsa, chips, beans, etc. They are just an easy option! We usually do ours on the camp stove. http://www.abountifulkitchen.com/2011/09/cafe-rio-style-sweet-pork-salad-at-home.html

Costco Muffins: Costco muffins are da-bomb-dot-com (and by Costco, I mean any place where you can get BIG muffins for a small price in a large quantity.) We cut ours in fourths. One of the easiest meals since they are already baked!!

I personally recommend COLD THINGS to eat. Hot things...well...hot food with hot weather is a little...hot. At night, you are OK to serve warm things. But I would recommend colder foods for lunch.

CHICKEN SALAD SANDWICHES  are a good option, since they are cold and yummy. :) Fruit is good as well, including fruit salads. SPAGHETTI, HAWAIIAN HAYSTACKS, and SANDWICHES are good all around.
